PreCamp Blog04 - Day 2 - Ulverstone

7th January
We're in Tasmania!  The ship trip was good.  It didn't take long to get used to the gentle movement of the ship before I went to sleep.  The wake up call was a bit rough though.  A friendly voice told us it was 5:15am and our estimated time of arrival into Devonportwas 6:00am.

My cabin went out on deck just in time to see the ship arriving into a very sleepy looking Devonport.  Our busses were waiting for us at the terminal and they took us to Camp Clayton only 20 minutes away.

Once we got to camp, it felt like we had been up for hours even though it was only 7:00am!  We had breakfast straight away then split into camp companies to find our accommodation and get to know the site.  Before we knew it, lunchtime arrived and we went to discover Ulverstone.

For a small town, Ulverstone was quite busy.  All the shops are in one street and there's a big park that runs for miles along the river and beachfront.  Half way along the beach, we discovered a tent city with hundreds of families camped for their summer holidays.  Apparently some people come here to camp even though they live less than 30 minutes drive away!

In our cabin groups we had to follow a map and visit certain spots in Ulverstone to get points.  Some places were a bit hard to find but they were worth more points.  We found quite a few of the tough ones so our group total was quite good.

Tonight, after dinner, we had a huge all-in worship and teaching session before getting some cabin group time then bed.
